An Education in Consciousness

The quiet expansion of human potential.

We believe education should do more than fill the mind. It should expand it. At Maharishi International University, we do not merely train you for a profession; we cultivate the consciousness of the learner.

The architecture of modern stillness.

By combining daily Transcendental Meditation with rigorous block-system academics, we foster deep inner peace alongside sharp intellectual inquiry.

Founded on the belief that inner growth and academic excellence are naturally complementary, we designed a campus and curriculum centered entirely on the development of the individual. Located in Fairfield, Iowa—a creative, self-sustaining town known for its progressive arts scene and diverse global community—our campus serves as a sanctuary for profound introspection and collaborative science.

Our academic environment rejects the fragmented, high-stress cycle of modern higher education. Instead of forcing students to juggle four or five courses at once, we utilize an immersive block learning system. You study a single subject intensely for four to eight weeks. This focused block allows you to dive deep without traditional distractions, forming meaningful relationships with peers and mentors while eliminating the exhaustion of traditional finals weeks.

Underpinning this entire framework is the daily practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM). Integrated into the academic calendar, TM provides a reliable, scientifically verified rest state that lowers anxiety, stimulates creativity, and clears cognitive pathways. It is not an alternative to modern scholarship; it is the ultimate preparation for it.

Harmony in Practice

A physical ecosystem designed to sustain wellness.

We believe that the mind cannot thrive in isolation from its physical shell or the natural world. This philosophy manifests across our campus: we are proudly home to America’s first university committed to serving organic, primarily vegetarian meals daily, sourced directly from local producers and our own regenerative agriculture projects.

From our Sustainable Living Center—which produces more energy than it consumes—to a 1.1 million-watt solar power plant providing over a third of our campus energy, we don't just teach environmental stewardship; we live it. Our community remains a drug and alcohol-free space, ensuring that your living and learning environment actively supports self-healing and clear consciousness.

Faculty of Presence

Instructors who practice what they teach.

Because our block system focuses entirely on one subject at a time, our faculty is entirely present. There are no competing demands. You receive dedicated, personal instruction from globally recognized minds who prioritize your personal and academic trajectory.
